Ok, this is just a cute little idea that I wanted to share with you if you haven’t settled on a Christmas Table idea yet. I set a formal table in the dining room for the grown ups, but I always like to do something fun in the kitchen at the not-so-dreaded “kids table” for my girls and my nieces and nephews.

I actually found these huge boards, (one of them being large enough to pop over a 6” folding table) and painted them with chalkboard paint. So now I have a reusable table top that I can change for lots of different occasions. I also painted a slightly smaller one which I use as a menu (and keep the theme flowing).

Then I was totally inspired by this post and decided to make a little winter wonderland. I have tons of large jars in my basement that I use for storing soup in the fridge instead of Tupperware, as well as gobs of different sized mason jars. I ordered the fake snow and little tree’s from Amazon prime and they were really inexpensive. A dab of hot glue on the lid and a sprinkle of snow was really all it took to create the little snow jars. The I used my kids crayola craft glitter glue to ice and snowify the bare branched trees- it is very realistic up close!

And then of course, the pinecones- did anyone else used to make those with their parents when they were young? I loved to do that. Pia and Coco collected those earlier in the fall and now they are being put to good use!

Then look at these cute little chalkboard ornaments! That is just elmers glue and fake snow around the edges and they are totally cute and double as a favor.

Chalkboard ornaments or use them as tags or place cards!

There will obviously be little dishes of chalk set out for the kids to enjoy their table-top and then I also recommend setting out little games or decks of cards for them to prolong the “grown up” time for as long as possible!

Homemade Snow Globes

I am going over all of this on New Day Northwest at 11AM on KING5, today, Thursday the 19th, please tune in!!
