I know that TAILGATING THURSDAY doesn’t have quite the same ring to it as the THIRSTY THURSDAY we have been celebrating here the last few months. But the truth is, I feel that I need to dedicate a whole day to tailgating and game day food EVERY week for a little while. Don’t you think? Thirsty Thursday will be back before you know it!

Hawaiian Pulled Pork Sandwich

To kick off Tailgating Thursday, I am sharing one of the dishes with you that I am probably talking about live on KING5 News at the very moment you are reading this (if, of course you are up at 6am watching the news. Are you?) and that is the Hawaiian Pulled Pork Sandwich.

Hawaiian Pulled Pork Sandwich

It consists of tender pulled pork, Sweet and Spicy BBQ Sauce, grilled pineapple and grilled red onions. It is a sweet and savory work of art. I love it for tailgating because you can make the pork and sauce several days ahead of time and then just heat it up in a crock pot. The pineapple and onions can be grilled on site and then you just pile everything on a squishy bun and call it a day. Oh wait. I forgot about the part where you shove the whole thing in your mouth- that part is great too.

But here is the thing guys- there isn’t so much a recipe for it. I mean there are recipes for all of the components like the PULLED PORK and the SWEET AND SPICY BBQ SAUCE, And I would just say to BBQ the Pineapple rings and red onion for about 2-3 minutes on each side over medium high heat. Is that ok? Are you mad at me? Noooo, right? You can do it!

But what I do have here are a few more of the RECIPES that I am showing on my 3 news segments this morning, as well as some that are similar and will hold you over until next Thursday….

Roasted Chicken Nacho’s
