Christmas Decoration House Tour.
As promised, here is a little house tour of the decorations (at least some of them!) this year. I went a little wacko, but I was spurred on by Pia who was getting up at 5am every day so we could “decorate more”. However, I won’t pretend for a moment that I don’t love covering every square inch possible of our house in glitter and shimmer.
But I’m done now and happy to enjoy the beauty of the glitzy holidays around here!
Entryway and Banister
This is what you would see when you first walked in…
Here is the banister, (I used fresh cedar greens- they smell wonderful)…
In the other entry corner, was this little tree which a friend made and then I decorated it with birds…
Dining Room:
Another one of these adorable little tree’s, (but I aded a few white birds) sat in the center of the buffet in the dining room…. (sorry it was just SO sunny when i took these)
Also, Pete suspects that I went “a little crazy” with all the mini glitter trees, but I just love how they are all different (they are, even if you can’t tell). It’s like a little snowy forrest!
I stuffed the chandelier with faux icy branches and metallic leaves and then perched white peacocks on the top…
And then I filled my favorite big Chinese export bowl with satsumas which are just as beautiful as flowers this time of year…
Kitchen:
In the kitchen, I just hung cedar garlands around the window frames and then hung ornaments in the cedar for just a little glitz!
Den:
This is my favorite mantel. I just pile on my favorite little bird ornaments everywhere. The “noble fir” garlands are fake- but they look pretty real! I got them at balsamhill.com and have used them for years and years.
There was also little bird cages, piles of seasonal fruits and mistletoe for good measure!
Living Room and Christmas Tree:
Don’t worry, I got the plugs swapped out for white cords!! And then more of my friends trees on the tables (I have two identical long black tables) only I added turquoise ornaments to these trees.
MORE GLITTER TREES!!! Plus all of the silver stuff at the base of the trees are just inexpensive silver beaded garlands from the drug store.
Peacock Mantel (by the way- Pete did the mantel. I’m not kidding.)
And finally, the tree! With the exception of last year, I have had a flocked tree every year. I just love the whimsy of the “snow”. We carried our bird theme all through the tree and added pops of violet to the metallics and turquoise.
And a special nod to our Christmas star which is made from deconstructed antique Costume jewelry- isn’t that pretty!?
Ok. I hope you guys enjoyed the little holiday house tour!! Have fun decorating!! XOXO

Beautiful! Merry Christmas to you and your family! Thanks for sharing.
Merry Christmas to you too ANgela!!!
Absolutely breathtaking, Heather!! Bravo.
I am. A. Slacker.
Seriously it’s amazing!
OR. I. am. Crazy. Thank you so much Linda:)
I love that you use a mix of homemade and fancier things, and a lot of things you re-use from year to year. Also, just the colors and sparkle make things so cheerful. I actually never liked those little bird ornaments, until just now when I saw how you use them. Together with the white and silver and boughs, they really are perfect. It’s fun to see how someone else does things, because lightbulbs can go off. The thing is, which is what I get from your blog in general, things (whether decorations or recipes) don’t have to be expensive or difficult, only put together with imagination and love. Which you have obviously done. And if the mantel Pete did is any indication, I’m sure your whole family does things that way. Merry Christmas!
Terry, thank you so much for your kind words. You just put into words exactly what I strive to do, and the fact that you said that makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. Thank you so much XOXOXOXO
Your decorations are absolutely stunning Heather. I love little birds, too, and have them displayed year-round.
Wishing you a wonderful Christmas season.
Just Breath Taking.
The decorations are magical! My 4 year old daughter would be in heaven!! Do you mind sharing the sources of some of the birds and glitter trees? We would love to add them to our holiday decor!
Thank you for sharing. Your Christmas decor is stunning!
Okay, I am in need of doing some updating on my Christmas decor. I’m sure you have collected things through out the years, but do you have any favorite haunts?? (I particularly love the stairway…I personally would go up and down all day…just to admire the festively decorated bows) 😉
Love, love, love this post. Beautiful.
Just perfect and festive with all the glitz and traditional, great mix!
Do the girls get to do a tree with fun kids decorations too?
Absolutely stunning, I’m obsessed with the glitter trees in your dining room! BTW, I saw your tablescape column in House Beautiful – so gorgeous!
Very beautiful – I can’t even imagine how long this must have taken you.
Have a Blessed and Merry Christmas.
Absolutely beautiful! I loved it all! I love all the sparkle.
Can you come decorate my house, lol! Merry Christmas!
WOW! Your home and decor is absolutely amazing and I feel like a grinch. Just got our tree up last night and tried to tell my husband that I wasn’t decorating it. I was going to go for the natural look this year!
Love the decorations. My absolute favorite is that gorgeous dark mantel with all the sparkly birds. SO beautiful. And the garland above your kitchen window!! Too pretty. Thank you for sharing with us!! Your creativity is inspiring.
I thought I had a great bird collection which I use throughout the year to decorate dining tables and a false tree and some special Christmas ones. Then I saw all this and I was so jealous I had a buying spree looking for more birds. But my display will never be this good. This is so beautiful.
Thank you for sharing. I so look forward to your tablescapes.
Oh Barbara! Mine are partially collected special birds, and partially buying sprees at Fred Meyer when they have the 3 for 6.99 bird ornaments! I am sure that your display is gorgeous!! Merry Christmas!
Love the birds! I like the trees with the white birds on them and I think I might use this idea next year on my sideboard. Beautiful home.
Truly beautiful with great imagination! What a joy to go through. Susan
Love the house tour! You are always an inspiration. Will you be posting another christmas house tour this year perhaps?
