Everyone I know loves cheese. This is always immensely popular, and it lends a savory and slightly more substantial feel to the mostly sweet spread. With the selections available at most grocery stores now, this is also an easy way to entertain, (literally- you unwrap and serve!). If you are lucky enough to have a cheese shop or a gourmet grocer such as Whole Foods, you can seek help from their professionals. Often they will let you sample cheeses that you are interested in, or at the very least be able to make some good recommendations. Below are the cheeses that I chose for this particular party, with a few of them being some of my very favorites. As for accoutrements for the cheese, there are endless options. Almost any fresh or dried fruit complement the cheeses, but the pears and apples are a no-brainer. Nuts, toasted or candied are nice as is a drizzle of good honey, or even better a fresh honeycomb that can be cut into chunks and spread on crackers alongside the blue cheeses. I also like to serve a selection of different crackers, bread sticks and baguette slices.

i was wondering how you keep the apples from turning brown?
When the apples are sliced, they stick together and protect everything except the outermost apple slice. I haven’t really had problems with it, but if it was for you, you could rub the outside with a little lemon.
