This is how Halloween goes at our house:
A month before Halloween, I decorate the living bajeezus out of my house. My husband quietly frowns while things like fake spider webs get stuck in his hair. But the girls and I shriek and squeal with delight as glitter falls in our food. Decorations are worth it.
I hold off as long as humanly possible to purchase the Halloween candy. I know that the second it gets to the house, I will eat it.
So I use all of that willpower up before we even get to Halloween. Then, the morning of, I go out and buy a ridiculous amount of candy, and only candy that I love. WHY!??? Why do I do this???!!
Then, per usual, we get approximately 6 kids that come to my crazy decorated, pumpkins glowing, over candied house. WHY!???? Why won’t any kids come to our house!!! Cause we live on a hill. I wouldn’t have climbed a hill like that for candy either.
So guess how it ends? With me in a lump on the floor, dressed like Scooby doo and surrounded by candy wrappers and mountains of candy. It’s a vicious cycle.
In an attempt to get all those little candy bars in shiny wrappers out of my grubby little hands I baked them into treats. Treats I can pack in my kids lunches, and treats that I could drop off at the neighbors and send home with babysitters! That is how these Twix cookies were born. These crispy, chewy, sweet, gooey, let me sleep in-a-bed-of-these cookies.
Twix Cookies, makes 2 dozen large cookies
-1 cup salted butter, softened
-1 ½ cups white sugar
-2 tsp vanilla
-2 eggs
-2 ¼ cups flour
-1 tsp baking soda
-1 tsp salt
-16 mini Twix bars
1)Preheat the oven to 350 degrees, and prepare two sheet pans with parchment or silpats.
2)In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until creamy.
3)Add the vanilla and the eggs and beat until creamy
4)Meanwhile mix the dry ingredients together in a separate bowl.
5)Add the dry ingredients to the mixing bowl and stir until you have a thick cookie dough.
6) Cut the Twix bars into small pieces.
7) Add the Twix pieces and mix into the batter.
8)Scoop the cookies onto the sheet pans and bake at 350 for about 10 minutes.
9)When you take the cookies out they should still be a bit doughy and puffy looking in the middle- they will “fall” and stiffen up.
10)Place them on a rack to cool.
Enjoy!

I am giggling out loud reading this because I bought my candy last week and have eaten a Twix (or three) everyday since! But I just checked our leftovers and I have exactly 16 left, so I will be making these tomorrow. I adore your recipes, party ideas, and humor!
lol! thanks Jennifer. So glad I am not alone on this!
Ooooo Twix! Love this candy bar, and can’t wait to try them in cookie form. Yum!
YOU ARE SO FUNNY! THESE LOOK DELICIOUS AND I AM GOING HOME TONIGHT AND MAKING THEM. THANKS FOR THE EXTRA POUNDS!! DID THE GIRLS ENJOY HALLOWEEN?
yes! they loved it and went as rapunzle and Olivia pig- so funny!
Love it! I didn’t even buy any candy, since we go to the neighbors house and the kids come home with tons of candy. It doesn’t help that on Halloween around their school in West Seattle a Trick or Treating event occurs before we head home. I LOVE Twix. Could you do the same recipe with other candies too? We are heading to Maui next week, so I think this would be a fun treat to take with us. Thanks Heather!!
oh, for sure. Peanut butter cups, milky ways, snickers. I bet they would be great with just about anything!
Love everything about these cookies!
Oh my GOODNESS! I’m thinking milkduds or snickers might bee good too!
ooooh!!!!! milk duds sound sooooo good!! what a good idea!
Oooh, Twix was always one of my favorites! What a fun way to use up leftover Halloween candy.
Love this idea! And I love those gorgeous red nails. 🙂
haha! long live the shellac manicure!!
Oh you have me giggling. “decorate the living bajeezus” out of your house. Love that girl. The spider in your husbands hair..ha!! These cookies look amazing 🙂
Ah, I remember those days! This year, I gauged it just right – only TWO pieces of leftover candy – woot! But if I had more, I’d definitely be making these cookies!!!
Oh! You are so lucky!! I am making my husband hide the leftovers from me!
mmmmm…i *love* twix bars!!! this cookie must be awesome!!
Yes, if you love twix- these are the cookies for you!
Twix cookies? Now you are just getting ridiculous! haha!! 🙂 Halloween candy is dangggerouuuuus. LOL about the spider web in P’s hair (“quietly frowns” – can totally see his face, LOL) and you gaggle of girls cackling with glitter in your food. So funny!
Oh. *sigh* I must give up on not eating the extra candy. Whether it’s in candy form or in these cookies. I won’t be able to stay out of them!!!
Just so you know, I’m not ENTIRELY complaining. 😉
Haha! I am ALL about decorating the bajeezus out of my place for any holiday!
If only I hadn’t already eaten all our leftover Twix’s… It’s my favorite candy bar. To the store!
Gorgeous. Amazing. I want these REALLY bad. In my belly. 🙂
Those look delicious! I never get trick-or-treaters either, but always buy candy I like, “just in case.”
I love the “just in case!!”
Hahahahaha!!! That is my Halloween candy buying strategy as well! Great recipe. I’m going to use all the leftover malt ball candy packets before I over dose on them.
I L-O-V-E whoppers. good call on the Halloween candy 🙂
I want to try this with Heath Bar pieces…think it will be good?
YES and YES.
