I still remember sitting at the kids table when I was young. It was less than desirable, the only perk being the sparkling cider that ran like water on the Holidays.
Now my kids have a “kids table.”
We have 6 little girls for Thanksgiving (can you just imagine all of the “performances“ and “fashion shows” we will be witnessing that night!?)
**Apologies for the horrible pictures. It is like, pitch-black evening at about 11AM here right now. (Terrible.)
I needed a table to keep the kids occupied/busy/having fun while we squeezed in 10 minutes of grown up eating.
I also needed it to be on the easier side after my grown up table Fall Harvest extravanganza.
Butcher paper decorated with a sharpie was my solution. Each girl has their name written over their spot, some falling leaves to color in and of course, the all important “turkey hand” to color in with the little cups of crayons I set out.
I made a couple centerpieces with seasonal yellow mums, and a whole bunch of chocolate turkeys and foil covered chocolate leaves.
The hurricanes I put on the table let them have “fancy” candlelight without the danger. These are deep hurricanes with tiny little votives inside.
And of course day of, the sparkling cider will be flowing into these beautiful glasses with red trees and gold leaves…
God, please bless those little children of mine, they are who I really give thanks for…

So SO fun to let the kids be kids – really cute!!
thank you!!! yeah, they are only little for so long, right?!
Wow – love, Love, LOVE this table! When I sat at the kids table, it was just a folding table with the rest of the kids… BRAVO!
lol! totally! like a card table! so funny…
AMAZING!! My kids would certainly be eating all of those chocolates!
Wow! You are so creative! I love the handprint for the place card. So cute!
i’d be eating the chocolates…forget about the turkey! 🙂 looks wonderful – love the handprint!!
I just found a bunch of empty foil wrappers stuffed behind the cushions on the couch where Pia has been sneaking the chocolate already!
i’ve always found you wonderfully creative, but this table idea is the most relevant to me. I always feel badly for the kids that have to sit there, like they’re being taken away from the fun stuff. So…give them fun stuff. So they feel special.
I’m impressed, seriously! THanks.
Oooohhh! Thanks Jen Marie!
So cute! Kinda makes you want to be assigned to the “kids table!”
This is the most brilliant child’s table I’ve seen! Not only is it colorful and bright, you’ve tapped into what children like to do most of all, color. This could be used for many different events. I’m forwarding this to everyone I know with kids!
Thanks Vicki!!!
I absolutely love this idea and am going to do it for Christmas!!
That is just the cutest children’s table! How I miss setting those tables!
Love this fun table – although I know my kids would be into the chocs before any real food! Just wondering if you took any snaps of the table post dinner? I always love that – almost like a ghost of the dinner
