When you have small children, there is nothing in the whole world better than an I love you, and a card or a macaroni necklace made with love on Mothers Day.
But when you have grown children there should be a little more thought put in. I include myself in that. I am a very grown up woman. But I still call every day and use my mom like I am 13. She deserves a nice thank you. So whether you make her a beautiful meal, or do a special project for her, or run out and pick her up a gift- Show her you are thankful.
If you haven’t had a chance to get anything special for your mom yet, here are some ideas…. That may or may not loosely be based on things that I would be totally excited to get of I were your mom.
Is she into cooking?
I am obsessed with these Salad Servers…
And this Serving Bowl (which I imagine potting some Trader Joes orchids in and covering with moss for a tres chic gift!)
This French Kitchen Pedestal (which you should definitely bring laden with her favorite cake)
I also love any type of little clutch/Pouch/ bag that I can zip stuff into and stick in my purse like this and this. Us moms have to carry around a lot of stuff, and if I don’t put in pretty little bags, then I wind up with a purse full of zip lock bags. Not cute.
Can’t go wrong with jewelry. I think that these are really pretty very easy to wear earrings…
These tiny rings with your kids initials would be adorable.
or this tiny little necklace. I would wear two- one for each girl.
But I am also obsessed with lockets- so this locket would be lovely with their initials and pictures inside…
And I have to add this bracelet. Because I own one and every time I wear it I get like 10 compliments. Don’t you want your mom to get a lot of compliments and then she can tell them it was a gift from their adoring child?
Lets talk every day function for a second:
Like these cute journals. Not because I “journal” but because I like to make lists. Lots of them- and then I like to keep them together. Sticky notes have not turned out to be very functional, but these would be. And boy are they cute!
This wallet. Want it.
This I pad holder. It’s good for those of us moms that need a functional item, but still have a 19 year old girl swathed in sequins trapped inside of us.
Other stuff I would love if I were your mom.
Doesn’t every mom need a pretty sun hat. (you do, trust me.)
These scarves are beautiful and I own all three of these. When you read the story behind them you will just melt. So will your mom.
If you want to get your mom something she would never get for herself but that she probably would really enjoy?
New Makeup Brushes or this awesome Clarisonic.
And let me tell you, if your mom likes to cook, then a cook book is always a great idea!!
XOXOXO
What are you getting your mom for Mothers Day?

Thanks for all the ideas! I haven’t decided on my mother’s gift yet, I need to get on that 🙂
This is such a great list! Although this could easily turn into one of those holiday shopping trips… you know, when you’re supposed to buy gifts for tons of people but you keep picking up stuff for yourself?!
I actually bought my mom those salad servers for her birthday! They’re adorable!
Great ideas. Thank you. I am taking my amazing mom to a garden festival. This is what she wants (she will be searching for a wisteria shrub). I hope I can buy her one. The garden festival is in a state arboretum so we will be doing a Mother’s Day picnic or we might hit nearby wineries. I am the DD. BTW the wisteria she is raving about is for our yard. Lol. On another note as a new mom myself I have just a tiny vase on my wishlist. Tiny vase from a tiny baby. Lets see if hubby remembers. The vase is from Emma Bridgewater’s black toast collection which I LOVE. I am self-gifting your book and hope to have it signed when you come to VA. Your book signing is on my calendar. I am excited to meet you in person.
Pammi- I just love wisteria. I have several varieties growing in my back yard and covet another (eek!) What a lovely day you have planned!! I am going to go check out the vase line you are talking about- i am sure it is lovely. I can’t wait to meet you and sign your book!!
So who won the prizes? Did I miss it?

Your mom is the luckiest mom in the world to have you call her everyday. Sophia Loren said she called her mom every single day when she was alive no matter where in the world she happened to be. I would so like to have one more Mother’s Day with my own mom and grandmother but time passes and now I’m the “matriarch”. Yikes, how did that happen?! I would definitely be bringing my mom this though http://gingerelizabeth.com/event/mothers-day/
so, so sweet Vicki 🙂
Vicki- just looked that up. Drooooool!!!!
P.S. I’ve been thinking about this list all day. It’s getting filed for future reference. Great ideas for birthdays and Christmas. You have good taste!
thanks Vicki!!
Hey! Great ideas but too expensive. Try to come up with some DIYs for young kids ages: 11-13. Thanks! BTW… you rock!
