Thirsty Thursday is here, and Sparkling Mango Lemonade is the name of the game.
Fourth of July and a hundred hot nights of Summer are ahead of us (more like lukewarm if you live in Seattle). I always think that you need to be armed with gobs and gobs of great drink ideas in the summer. Isn’t everyone always thirsty? And in the mood to come over and sit out in lawn chairs and chat while sipping drinks and eating grilled food?
At least in my mind that is how I think about Summer…
When I was a kid, I always wanted to be able to get packaged foods at the store. You know, like cookies, drinks, snack food. The answer was always no. My mom was super anti packaged foods (and this was like WAY before that was cool). I would say to myself, “I will totally let me kids have all this kind of stuff if they want it”. Well guess what? The kids wanted me to buy Mango Lemonade at the grocery store the other day. And because I am turning out to be JUST like my mom on this front (wasn’t it so obvious that this is where I was going was that story!) I said “No. But we can make some at home.” And in the opposite of my pouty childhood reaction, they were thrilled!
The idea of making homemade lemonade was beyond exciting to them. And once I added the mango, sparkling water and “fancy” mint sprigs, they were way more pleased with the homemade version then the store bought anyways. It is sweet and just a touch tart. The sparkling water and the mint make it very refreshing!
I presume as a grown up, I will be “spiking” this in the very near future…

Pour the mangos and syrup into the blender and puree until very smooth.
Add the mango syrup puree to the fresh lemon juice and combine well.
In a pitcher filled with ice add a few fresh mint sprigs and pour in the mango/lemon mixture. Fill the pitcher the rest of the way with the chilled club soda and stir to combine.

Mango lemonade! This the best lemonade I have seen in years, I am totally serious! I love mangos and pureeing them into lemonade is genius!
OMG- Thanks so much Tieghan!!
Brilliant! Brilliant! Brilliant! Your mother and my mother subscribed to the same theory. Mine was thanks to a pediatrician in the 1950’s who told to bake homemade cookies instead of buying them and forego “soda pop”. I may have had one root beer float growing up. And I pretty much did the same with mine and now my grandchildren!
Totally Vicki- I have told the story like 5 times on the blog of how I had my first Oreo when I went to college 🙂
Oh honey, YES. This looks amazing, Heather! I love sparkling fruity drinks and this would be just perfect for beating the heat of a Texas summer! Making soon, for sure!
Thank you Georgia!! We have no real heat here- but for you, I feel like this will be extra refreshing!
Can we still be friends if I add some rum?
Jackie- I think it’s how we will stay friends 🙂
I always said the same thing – cause my mom wouldn’t ever let us get Little Debbies snack cakes. The horror! Now, I’m like Psst, Pleasseeee I can make ’em better than DEBBIE! ” And I can definitely get behind these on a regular basis! Move over Pops!
YUUUUUUUMMMMMMMYYYYYYYY!!!!!!! :-)!
this sounds so delicious!
Totally in love with this! What a refreshing beverage!
Thanks Katrina!!
What a gorgeous drink and it looks so yummy too!
Thank you Jocelyn!!
Oh my goodness! I was at the Met Market on Sand Point today at 6ish and I totally didn’t see you. I’m so sad to have missed you!
Oh shoot!! I was near the entrance in the deli section!
What a fabulous combination—and pretty too!
Could canned mango purée be used instead of a fresh mango.? What would the proportions be? Thanks
Hi Denise, I have never seen canned mango? I know I have used frozen mango puree before. Either way, I would just start with half the amount and then add to taste. Hope you like it!
