The best part about this cocktail, (aside from the stunning color of course!) is the name. I mean- come on. I had not had a salty dog until recently, and I had to admit that it was seriously pretty good.
The sweetness of the blueberries and the bitterness of the grapefruit juice nicely balanced one another out and the herbal floral notes in the gin made for a beautifully complex and fresh drink that is far from a typically sweet cocktail. The salt is an awesome addition. While I am not always a fan of salt even on a margarita- it just fits here, and it is after all a “salty dog.”
So happy Thirsty Thursday! Hope you have a great one- I am headed to LA with my little Coco for a few mother-daughter days of fun, but I will check in tomorrow ☺
