Christmas Tablescape

I just wanted to share this tablescape with everyone. One of my dearest friends was kind enough to auction off a dinner for 22 this past year, and she hosted it last night in celebration of the Christmas Season.

I was thrilled when she asked me if I would do the tablescape for the party!

BEFORE SHOTS:

Not only does she have a beautiful home, but she requested something that got me really thinking: a very natural, organic, earthy table. I am often on board with the more glam the better, which is why this project was so fun for me. I was able to create something that felt very elegant and over the top with all completely natural, seasonal items.

AFTER SHOTS:

The entire table was inspired by the whimsical holly Lenox china. The chargers were gold, and then all of the table linens were a slightly thicker weave, true linen that had been pressed.

We kept the glasses simple, except for vintage water glasses that were highlighted with gold.

It started with a foundation of pussy willow branches, and then magnolia branches with their beautiful brown velvety backs. Flowering eucalyptus branches and wild white Heather stems followed. The greenery was complemented with (my personal favorite) red rose hips, and two varieties of holly with red berries.

The next layer of the tablescape was the adding of the pomegranates, Bosc pears and artichokes. I just sort of clustered them in little piles throughout the greens.

At the end I added Italian chestnuts, and for fun, chocolate covered nuts and fruit. I used chocolate covered (milk and dark) almonds, and dark chocolate covered cranberries, pomegranate seeds and espresso beans. I like to have one playful item, and then you find guests seeking out the little treats like a treasure hunt! Plus the beautiful glossy chocolate looks gorgeous and natural with all of the other elements.

The side table was filled with all of the remaining greenery, and accented with boughs of cedar and pine (it smelled heavenly in there!)

Sorry- the pictures are not so awesome. It was an unprecedented bright and sunny December day, and it did not make the pictures easy to take- but this will give you an idea for anyone looking for Christmas Dinner ideas!
