My little puppy is not so little anymore.

He is officially gaining between .75 and 1 lb a day since we brought him home 8 weeks ago. He tanked in at 80 lbs Tuesday. He is 18 weeks old.

Which means he could easily be 82 by today.

This is Mason on Feb 7th and again on March 7. See the difference? It’ s about 30 lbs.

I feel like we are the luckiest puppy owners alive. He is the most naturally mellow dog on earth. That is what you get for choosing the hugest laziest dog in the litter.

When we chose him, all of the other dogs were playing and he was lying on his back spread eagle with a Buddha belly spilling over the sides. That’s how I knew he was perfect for me.

Also. He has a cast iron system. He can eat anything without the slightest disruption. He even ate a diaper the other day. He had to have his stomach pumped. Because in cases of minor or serious drama, I don’t really do that well.

You know how some people get really calm and assess the situation and act accordingly? That isn’t me. I am the one that either

a) stands paralyzed gaping like a guppy fish with bulging eye balls.
b) Chokes out a scream and runs in circles franticly
c) Cries Hysterically
d) Calls the fire department
e) All of the above

Thank God my husband has some sense.

But he wasn’t around. So, of course I ran the dog straight to the emergency room and had his stomach pumped.

Mason didn’t really seem to even notice his trauma. He was down to play with every dog in the office within 5 minutes and went straight home and ate a huge dinner.

This cast iron system he has makes him my favorite company in the kitchen all day. He just likes to lie at my feet and catch any and all scraps that fall to the floor. And nap. He is like my soul mate.

His favorite game is chase the swiffer. That’s how he works off his snacks. It sure isn’t by going on walks- he has no interest. He is like a house cat- that weighs 82 lbs.

He appears to be potty trained in full. I believe this because in the afformentioned diaper incident which happened after he escaped the kitchen while we were out for two hours, he did not go potty in the house. There was some minor damage to a blue tutu- but, can you really tell if a few strips of tuile are missing from a tutu anyway?

I’ll let Mason check back in, in another 10-20 lbs or so.
