I was going to call these “Seahawks Brownies” but I didn’t want to upset anyone not basking gloriously in the warm glow of our beloved football team.
No matter what team you root for- these are perfect for tailgating! I love that they are a play on beer and pretzels (very typical game snacking fare) but that they are completely enveloped in dark fudgy chocolate.

Beer and Pretzel Brownies

I guess the “Seahawks” part came in with the color choice of the Pretzel M&Ms that I used for the topping. So technically you are allowed to use some of the other colors to support your own team of choice ☺

I used pretzel sticks baked right into the brownies for a little added texture and salt (which happens to pair beautifully with chocolate by the way!). And then those chocolate covered pretzel balls on top give them awesome crunch, while the dark chocolate ganache layer sets it all over the edge.

Beer and Pretzel Brownies

Bring these to your next tailgate (or just make them for your kids lunches) and you will be a hero. (I like to make them in this big batch- it means I can share, or stick them in the freezer and take them out daily for lunches).

Beer and Pretzel Brownies

Heat the cream in a small pot until it is simmering. Remove the pot from the heat and add the chocolate pieces and whisk until smooth. Set aside to cool

Beer and Pretzel Brownies

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Take a 12×16″ sheet pan, (a cookie pan with sides) and put a sheet of parchment paper down on the bottom of the pan. I then spray the top of the parchment, and the sides of the pan with non-stick baking spray.
Take the chopped chocolate and microwave it for 90 seconds. Whisk the chocolate until very smooth. Set aside to cool.
In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, whip the butter and sugar until it is light and fluffy. Add the beer and beat until well combined.Beat the eggs in one at a time, until they are completely mixed in, then slowly beat in the cooled melted chocolate.Sift the flour and coco together, and then slowly add it to the batter, mixing in until it is just combined.
Add the chocolate chips and the pretzels, and mix until just combined. Transfer the batter to the prepared pan, and spread evenly to the edges. Bake the brownies at 350 degress for 25-30 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean. Do not over bake!
Beer and Pretzel Brownies

When the brownies are finished, let them cool completely before frosting them evenly with the ganache.

Beer and Pretzel Brownies

Chop up the pretzel m&m’s and sprinkle them over the top of the brownies.
