1. This was the biggest thing ever for me this week. If you read this blog EVER, you should read this so you understand what’s up around here.
2. I did a Mothers Day Segment on New Day Northwest this past Thursday. My kids, my sister and my niece and nephew came. I made this gluten free, vegan crisp and it was freaking awesome. I am also bringing this to brunch on Sunday so that me and the kids have something sweet to eat! But no matter what
3. This Water Infusion Pitcher is a current obsession of mine. I am really trying to drink more water, and infusing it with things like berries and mint and lemons work to make it a little more exciting to guzzle H2O.
4. I have totally slacked off on my reading. I was really getting into it for a while, and now I stopped reading the 3rd in the divergent series because it was too slow, and I just cannot get back into it. Is it worth it? Should I try to press through how boring that book is right now? I also heard that I need to read the “Fault in our stars”? Has anyone read that?
Ok, here are a couple of the most glorious recipes from around the web from this week:
5. Rhubarb Polenta Muffins. I would like a dozen of these please.
6. Mango Salad with Rhubarb Ginger Dressing with Chili and Almonds. Yes.
7. Strawberry Lemon Curd Doughnuts. Do you know how much I love that these are gluten and dairy free? With a little egg tweaking I will maybe make these for myself on mothers day.
8. Vietnamese Fajitas. Whaaaat!!!??? These look so good!!
9. Spring on a plate indeed. The most beautiful Spring ever.
10. I am already obsessed with fish tacos, and now let’s go one more round with Vietnamese flavors! Vietnamese Cha ca Fish Tacos.

Third Divergent book was tough to get through. It really bogged down in the early/middle part, then I felt the end was a little weak. Don’t force it if you aren’t feeling it. Speaking of water, are you able to do grapefruit? Perrier makes a zippy sparkling water with grapefruit, and it’s almost like tonic water, but no calories, and no artificial sweeteners like diet tonic water. It’s fun. And good with gin.
Beth: “Good with gin”… you’re my kinda girl. I need to make the switch to Perrier from diet soda, I think!
Also, Heather, Fault in Our Stars is both sweet and heartbreaking. I absolutely recommend it. I haven’t started the Divergent series yet, so I can’t say anything about those, but a new style can help break a reading rut!
I spent $20 on raspberries, blackberries and blueberries yesterday to make your crisp for a Mother’s Day barbecue at my son’s house. Daughter in law in gluten free, youngest granddaughter is dairy free, I love coconut so it’s a win win win! Have a lovely day and thank your for sharing your perseverance in smacking down the allergy culprits. I look forward to the creative and delicious recipes coming out of your imaginative kitchen.
Happy Mother’s Day!
Just finished fault in our stars. Excellent book. Be sure to have a box of Kleenex handy! I don’t know anyone that had read it and not liked it.
Miss You, a fast mystery to read. Yes Heather I am reading off the Kindle you and Julie gave me for Mother’s Day three years ago. And yes I do like the electronics. But could not use it for a while because of the terrible lightening and rain storms with no electricity for a while, charging is the all important issue here. China is experiencing climate issues like other countries. Storms are defiantly more intense and frequent . Yesterday wouldn’t have been a day to be traveling by plane or auto here, monsoon rains all dash. Love China, Mom
Love your blog! I just finished Fault in Our Stars and it was incredible. Heartbreaking, witty, clever and profound too. I loved it so much!
I have teenage daughters so I was influenced to read the Divergent series plus I wanted to read it before the movie premiered. The first was good just because it was a unique. But the second book was a bit of a struggle and the third was completely wacky and totally unnecessary. I only finished it because I kept hoping it would get better but that never happened. I was only angry for the awful writing and storyline. I would skip it. There are too many other great books to read. My daughters assure me “Fault in the Stars” is a must read. At least it is not a series. Our family enjoys Perrier grapefruit sparkling water. It is great alternative to sodas. I am intrigued by the water infusion pitcher.
Thank you Gloria!! You are the second one to recommend the grapefruit perrier- I gotta get it. Buying Fault in the Stars today 🙂
