I’m baaaaack!!!!! Saturday Stuff is back from vacation guys….
So, I fell off the internet for a day or two because my older brother Chris is in town with his lovely girlfriend to celebrate his 40th birthday. I don’t get to see him nearly enough, so I am appreciating every minute! Tonight all of us siblings are going to go have a blow out at that restauraunt I obsessed over here– Mamnoon (in Seattle). Lebanese food is phenomenol by the way…
The obvious biggie for me this week is Cutthroat Kitchen. Tomorrow night, Sunday the 27th, Food Network, 10pm. O-EM-GEEEEE….. I will be on as “Chef Heather”!!
This was the craziest thing I have ever done and I realized that I can’t really tell you anything about it without spoiling what happens- so I am going to post some details tomorrow night for when it is over and you can get some inside info on what really went on! But I will preemptively say that I hope I don’t sound like a moron. I am pretty sure my brain and body were mush by the time the whole thing was done so I don’t have high hopes for myself. Sigh…. Tune in at your own risk ☺
I changed my social media pictures to reflect the red hair that I have been sporting in real life for the last few months. It is actually much, much closer to my natural hair color than the super dark brunette I had for almost 10 years. But does any 35 year old woman really know exactly what her “natural” hair color is anymore? (Eek.) I just like to look at pictures of my strawberry blond childhood hair and go “oh, obviously THAT is my natural haircolor…”
This Monday I am so excited to go and speak to a women’s group in Seattle about “Allergy free food”. A group of more mature women who are all supposed to be on anti-inflammatory and or gluten free- dairy free type of diets for their health, but who have become frozen in the land of chicken breasts and broccoli. I am so excited to introduce them to the joys of eating delicious nutritious food without making them selves sick and without sacrificing any flavors. You can in fact have it both ways! I am also taking my 14 year old niece so she can see the action and a little piece of what I do for my “job” besides just cook all day in yoga pants. Just kidding- I swear that is not all I do. Sometimes.
Jay-Z and Beyonce. That is happening Wednesday night and I am dying in anticipation. Seriously CAN NOT WAIT. I will fill you in on all the details next week.
Ok. Frozen, the 15 minute musical happened yesterday. Pia and Coco rocked it. I will never get the Frozen sound track out of my head. Never. Ever. I would post the video here, but it all of the sudden occurred to me that there are other children in the video and since I don’t know them or their parents I probably shouldn’t post them all over the internet so I can gush about my own children. But I promise you- it was awesome. I have to add that I am particularly proud of Coco who knew every line and every dance move despite being almost 2 years younger than anyone else in the show (she is 4). She told me she wants to be an actress, so she may have found her calling early in life….
Next week is Mary Poppins the 15 minute musical ☺
And of course the most drool worthy recipes from around the web….
I just can’t stop gushing about these zucchini noodles, and was SO inspired by this gorgeous dish in particular that I am still going ga-ga: Pistachio Kale Pesto with Zucchini Noodles and Cherries.
Bahn Mi Fries. C’mon….obviously these had to make the list!
This gorgeous Nectarine and Fig Summer Salad with Crispy Pancetta got me so inspired that I made like a cousin salad to it. I will post it soon.
Fresh Blueberry Pie reminds me of my childhood. These are nostalgic and beautiful.
This Falafel Pita makes me miss Greece. And Gluten….
I think that these Caramelized Peach and Cherry, Prosciutto and Gorgonzola Salad with Buckwheat Crepe’s are absolutely beautiful. I am wowed.

I am so watching you on TV tomorrow night. Way cool! 🙂
Your new profile pic is the cutest. loving the red hair!
And thank you for linking my salad! Have a great weekend!
Glad you’re back! Very Rita Hayworth hair! Looks fabulous. Have to tell you my youngest granddaughter has been taken off dairy completely and she’s like a different child. It was making her crazy, seriously. She didn’t have the cramping stomach aches anymore so we figured her system could handle a small amount ie yogurt, ice cream, little bit of cheese. Just goes to show allergies can lurk beneath the surface in the most peculiar ways. Makes us wonder how many kids at misdiagnosed with ADHD and put on Ritalin when it’s allergies, especially dairy.
Looking forward to watching cut throat kitchen on Sunday. Even my kids are excited to watch knowing that a Seattle chef is on! Made the curry veggies and rice last night. Delicious, my son gave me 8 out of 10 🙂 I was wondering about how to know about the lectures you do?? I would love to attend an allergy one or even a basic cooking one! I am in the chicken and broccoli pattern as well!
Congrats on Cutthroat!! I cant wait to watch it. I hope you enjoyed your visit with your brother! those zucchini noodles are on my must make list! YUM!
I will tune in tonight to watch and see you tomorrow! I’m really looking for those new options besides chicken and broccoli! Cheers, Nancy
