Wilbur and the poo poo mask

Let me just say. We have, without a doubt been the victims of some real Bull S*&# the last few weeks! Are you offended by my crass talk? please don’t be, cause that is nothing- and trust me- that is an understatement.

Like HOW after all the other stuff that has been going on with my foot and Pete’s hand and a nasty case of bronchitis ripping through the whole family and Coco had an ear infection…. Could the dog be next? Well,  Wilbur fell of the bed and slipped a disk. Seriously!!

So tonight, Pete went to this guys only birthday dinner and I was home with the girls. They both fell asleep at 7pm (see below for the cause) and I thought (foolishly!) that I would have some peaceful alone time! I took a shower, and then decided that I would put on my favorite face mask. Now I can never put this on around the girls, because, well, it smells bad and it looks even worse. They call it the “poo poo” mask and run around dramatically screaming about how disgusting it is. (slightly but not entirely exaggerated). So I applied the mask with no wailing dramatics (by the way, a few teaspoons of the mask mixed with equal parts honey and 1 teaspoon baking soda is AMAZING!!) and got ready to settle in with a magazine for 20 minutes. Well, instead, Wilbur came in. Since he is not allowed to jump or move too much, I went to pick him up to get on the bed with me. Only after I had gently laid him down on my clean bed did I notice that I had somehow like rubbed his face, neck, ear and upper back on my face, taking a bunch of “poo poo” mask with him. And he was lying on my duvet. With Poo Poo mask. As I just sort of floundered going “ohmygodohmygodohmygod” Even Wilbur was trying to figure out what that smell was? And rolling around in the process. Of Course.

I then had to haul the dog into the shower and bathe him, as well as strip my bed. Classic. But kind of funny…

So Sunday is Pia’s 7th Birthday. She is my child who somehow figures out how to stretch a birthday out over 3 days. Like Family birthday on Friday night (My sister was a SAINT and threw her a Frozen birthday since I am without a foot or a house right now). Then Pete, my mother-in-law, my niece and I took a group of 6-7 year olds to Build-A-Bear today and tomorrow is her “real birthday” so we have some stuff planned (including ear piercing!!) I am more nervous than her by the way. Anyways. We are dog tired. Pete was so wiped out after her friend birthday that he had to have a scotch and a nap to get back to his “right place”. Oh Pete.

My foot. Still struggling to be honest. I think Physically and emotionally. It’s really hard to stay really positive when the healing is at a snails pace. Any recommendations out there to aid healing? Even generalized healing? I am doing protein shakes, supplements and PT. I just bought a book on meditating too. Any and all advice is very welcome and appreciated J

On a fun note- Sunday is the last day of this fun giveaway!! Not only can you win a copy of “Seriously Delish” but a kitchen aid hand mixer!!

OK- after all that ridiculousness above, lets get into some amazing recipes, right!?

Bacon Wrapped Grilled Peaches with Balsamic Glaze. All is right with the world.

Shawarma Nachos. OH yes, oh yum. i would devour this entire batch.

Soba Noodles with Shishito peppers and avocado. Have I told you about my all encompassing obsession with shishito peppers this summer?

Lobster Pot Pies. OhEmGee how I miss dairy. If you can have it, please make these and eat them so I can live vicariously through you.
