Hi Guys- this is Superbowl edition Thirsty Thursday. And we are going to be honoring MARGARITAS!!!!! Which, besides beer and straight up tequila shots feel like they are the right drink for Superbowl viewing. Don’t you think!?
I have a whole bunch of Margarita recipes for you here:
Skinny Blood Orange Margaritas
Cherry Lavender Beer Margaritas
As well as a bunch of tailgating food ideas HERE
But I also had to share these Guinness Margaritas with you, because they are just SO good! I had these many years ago at a friends house and they were so delicious that I begged for the recipe. When I got it, I could not believe the ingredients!!! So easy and so delicious! In fact, I love these so much that I even put in my last book.
I love the dark, sweet flavor of the Guinness, but it is also easy to make gluten free with a GF dark ale. Enjoy!
Recipe: Guinness Margaritas
Ingredients
- ice
- 1 can limeade concentrate
- 1 can of tequila
- 2 cans Guinness (or gluten free dark ale)
- limes cut into wedges
Instructions
- In a big pitcher filled with ice, add one can of frozen limeade concentrate. Take the same can and fill it with tequila and add it to the pitcher. Add two full Guinness (or gluten free beer). Add a bunch of fresh lime wedges and serve chilled over ice.
Preparation time: 10 minute(s)
Number of servings (yield): 6
We have made these blender style margaritas for years. So simple and easy to make for a crowd and really tasty. A lighter beer in the summer is great too.
oooh!!! in the blender?! yum- I am going to have to give that a try Sheila!
What an interesting combo! I’m having a hard time imagining what it tastes like… may just have to make these for Superbowl and find out!
I hope so Ashley! Hope you like them!!
Came back to say that these were AWESOME! I still can’t even believe it. These will definitely be a regular drink for gatherings, so easy to make. 🙂
I believe you have this recipe in your book, right? I am intrigued by the concept. Guess I should finally give it a try!
There’s an old advertising slogan of Guinness that goes: “My goodness, my Guinness.” You should call these My goodness, my Guinness margaritas!
Yes! I love these so much that they are in the book! Just a fun easy recipe that is always a pleaser 🙂
Heather, I meant to ask yesterday, are you working on a new cookbook? I love your first one and would love to see another one? (They also make great gifts for folks who love to cook and entertain).
I am Courtney! It’s a healthier one and will be out Spring of 2016 with Clarkson Potter!
Hi Heather,
Awesome recipe!
I can’t wait to try it, however, beforehand I must ask two things:
* How many ounces (or ml) per ‘can’ of tequila and limeade, 12?
* Is there any substitute for Limeade? I’m currently out of the US and can’t find that here I’m afraid.
I’m not much of a drinker but I am a Guinness fan and like ‘sophisticated’ types of drinks from time to time, so this makes you my hero of the day! 🙂
Hi JM!! Yes- those are 12 ounce cans. You could could make your own simple syrup? 1 cup of sugar mixed with 1 cup of water boils sand down and then mixed with very fresh lime juice would have a similar effect? Let me know if you try it!
