Rock the Detox.
This was an event that I was part of this past Thursday night. 225 women showed up to learn about the food/exercise/body/beauty connection and it was so awesome.

Everyone that was there was passionate about health and wellbeing and it was fascinating to learn more about all of the different facites of taking care of ones female body to achieve your ultimate health inside and out. I spoke on a panel with the founder of Kari Gran Skincare, A naturopathic Doctor and a Lulu Lemon Ambassador/Pure Bar franchise owner.

Saturday Stuff

And then we did a couple hours of interactive activities and Q&A. I had a great night and found everything to be really interesting. Here are some shots of the crudité spread I put out and the signature cocktail I created for the event.

Coco is going Vegan.
Actually she announced at dinner that she is going to be “vegetarian”, not realizing that she, being allergic to dairy and eggs, is actually going to be vegan. Well, except that she likes honey on her cereal- so nearly vegan. She said that she heard about it at her afterschool musical class and that she was “inspired” (she actually used that word by the way- and she is 5) and that she would try it for at least a week and then see if she could go longer. This is a kid who is a complete carnivore, so we will see how it goes- but I am trying to be supportive of her goals.

Saturday Stuff

Unreal Candy.
I ate some of this after they sent me some (although- I am just posting this because I fee like it- I was not compensated) and it is so freaking good. If you have read this blog for years- than you may remember my old toxic love affair with Reeses Peanut Butter Cups. This is that, but without the toxic part. Plus, I can eat them without getting seriously sick. They are vegan, non GMO, GF, transfat free and weirdly have a decent amount of protein and fiber in them. SO if you are vegan, or have a dairy allergy- and you still crave candy (like me) once in a while- these are a good buy. They have everything from dark chocolate peanut butter cups with crispy quinoa to dark chocolate almond butter cups. YUM.

Saturday Stuff

Mothers Day.
What a weird one this will be. My mom and my mother-in-law are out of town, so it looks like we are going to me meeeellllow. Just the way I like it. I plan to lie in bed all day. Well, maybe just part of the day. What do you want to do on Mothers Day?

My absolute favorite is key lime pie! :) Thanks for sharing this recipe! I think even my picky eaters won’t be able to find fault with this one!

Pia’s cupcakes.
Pia’s birthday is in September. In fact her birthday was the first day of school in the fall, so there was no celebration, because there was not a birthday celebration structure in place yet. But leave it to Pia to figure out how she could get the class to celebrate her birthday in April instead. I made cupcakes for the class and she brought them in a few days ago. They were, gluten, dairy, egg, soy and cane sugar free and no-one knew the difference. The recipe will be in my cookbook next Spring (which I am aware is super annoying of me) but it will be worth the wait- they are so good. We also made sugar coated rose petals for the top with coconut oil and beet sugar. I will show you how on the blog soon.
