Current Mood: Foggy. (That is the space needle on the left- that’s how gray and foggy it is here!)
What a crazy week. I need sleep- so thank goodness for the weekend. Between my one day Portland road trip and a 24 hour trip to San Francisco, a kid with the stomach flu and the fact that the main sewage line backed up into our basement shower and laundary room and then said line had to be replaced- well, I think that sewage bit says it all. Rubber gloves and bleach my friends. Rubber gloves and bleach….
Also- the firemen came on Friday evening right before we left for fencing. I was asked of I had been spray painting in the basement by someone that works with me. I went down and was nearly blown off my feet by the fumes. Turns out they were seeping in from the garage which was like asphyxiating. We opened everything up and tried to find the source, but couldn’t detect anything out of place. It smelled like someone had spilled a gallon of acetone on the floor in the garage- but no one did any such thing- in fact no one had been in there all day- even the car. I couldn’t reach Pete, so I did what all reformed daddy’s girls do- I called my dad. He was like get the firemen. The fire house is one block from the house so I waddled over there and knocked and said something like “sorry, don’t mean to disturb you or be dramatic, but it smells like I have a chemical spill in my garage and we can’t source it- don’t want something to combust and burn the house down, haha!!!” Nervous laughter. So in a dramatic fashion, a ladder truck drove the one block down and 5 insanely nice men in repertory suits checked my whole house. They smelled it too- big time, but no one could find the source- but determined it was not a combustible gas (whew!). We aired the entire house out (with it raining) for like 4 hours so that we could sleep here and guess we are spending our weekend cleaning out the garage. Fun Times. Rough week to be a home owner ☺
On a far less Sh#%*y note, (pun intended) I did have some highlights this week! Like I said earlier in the week, I walked all my old stomping grounds in San Francisco in a matter of hours and it was a total mind trip. I lived there from 22-24 years old, and I realized what an incredibly different time in my life that was. I mean, duh! But still just a weird funny thing for sure. And then we had an amazing dinner at Kokkari. If you go to SF you should eat here. Besides the fact that the food is delicious (Greek!!) you may also get the pleasure of spending time with the delightful Michael Proccopio who is server extraordinaire.
Also, my little Coco-bean is going to audition for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (the musical) today. She is SO into it and the audition is the cutest thing ever. I will probably post her practicing to snapchat today- so tune in (my name is heatherchristo on snapchat!)
And in fairly big news (to me at least!) I was nominated as a semi-finalist for the 2016 Best Food Blog over at Better Homes and Gardens. It’s a huge honor and comes at an interesting time. March 7th (the same day that voting is over) I will have been blogging since March 7th, 2007. Funny huh? NINE years of my life (more thoughts on this on March 7th!!) but if you enjoy it here and like my recipes, I would be so grateful if you popped over there and voted for me!!!- it seriously takes 2 seconds. Thank you. Mwwwaaahhhh!!!
