Hi Guys! Happy Friday!
I am so sorry that this has been such a slow week here on the blog guys- things have been hectic around here and my Thirsty Thursday post slipped through the cracks! (But don’t worry- it will be back next week!)
We are actually headed up to Whidbey Island right now and are so excited to be on the beach and we are going crabbing and having a bon-fire and the whole 9 yards- follow along on Insta-stories to see all of our beach adventures! We also have BBQ’s at home in the works and lots of enjoying the sunny weather and spending these last few days with the kids before they go back to school.
And one of our favorite things on these kind of long weekends is to go for walks with the family in the morning and then come back and make a special “weekend breakfast” (as the kids call it.) And this Everything Bagel Socca is the new favorite!!! I made it last weekend and we just freaked out it was so good.
I love socca anyways- if you have not had it before, its like a tender/crispy around the edges chickpea savory pancake! And it is SO GOOD!!!! I covered it in Everything Bagel Mix (I buy this at Trader Joes but you could make a mixture yourself.)
If you are vegetarian or vegan, you could leave the salmon off and it would be still be awesome.
If you can eat eggs (I wish I could!!) I bet a fried egg on top would be bomb.
Probably some thinly sliced cucumbers would have been a good idea! I think the point is that it’s an “everything bagel” wanna-be- so put everything that sounds good on the dang socca!
Enjoy your weekend and happy Brunching!!!
- 1 ¼ cup garbanzo bean flour
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 ½ cups hot water
- ⅓ cup finely sliced green onion
- 1 tablespoons Everything but the Bagel Mix
- Toppings:
- Sliced Avocado
- Finely diced red onion
- Cherry tomatoes
- Smoked salmon
- Preheat the oven with a 10” skillet in it to broil.
- In a mixing bowl whisk together the flour, salt, minced garlic, olive oil and hot water and whisk until smooth. Then add the finely sliced green onion and mix them into the batter.
- When the oven is up to broil take the skillet out and add enough olive oil to cover the bottom of the pan (about 1-2 tablespoons.) Then pour the batter into the pan, and use a spatula to carefully spread the batter evenly over the pan. Sprinkle the Everything Bagel Mix over the batter and put back in the broiler for 7-8 minutes.
- Remove the socca with a spatula or turn it out upside down onto a cutting board. Top with sliced avocado, onion, tomato and salmon (if desired) and then cut into slices or tear apart.
It sounds like a super interesting recipe that I will true for sure 🙂
Is there something up with my browser or is the recipe not showing?
Is there a recipe to this? I don’t see it.
Hi Heather,
Love all your recipes… I would love to make your socca, but when I scroll down all I see are the beautiful pictures, no recipe.
I too would love to make this wonderful looking recipe but I could not find the recipe either.
sorry did I miss the recipe?
Yes, no recipe for the socca bread… I know I have seen it on the site but it didn’t appear in the search either. Pls post the bread recipe as I am ready with my bowl and spoon for the second I see it lol
I don’t see the recipe either and it looks delicious!
Recipe?
You had me at Everything Bagel Seasoning + avocado! Loving the flavors in this!!
The everything bagel mix sounds amazing here!!
You know my love for socca! I so need this!,
Looks so good!!
I love Whidbey Island! Have fun! This looks incredibly flavorful. Love all the toppings!
This looks fantastic 🙂 Where do you buy garbanzo bean flour?
Hi Brooke- it’s Bobs Red Mill and my local grocery store carries it, otherwise I bet Whole Foods, health food stores or Amazon are all good choices for finding it!
Love Socca – this is SO creative!
Wow…crazy tasting and sounding. The everything flavors really want me to make this stat!!
Heather, do you think this would freeze well if made ahead of time (thinking like grabbing a bagel on the way out the door kind of thing)? Also, I’m going to try a new product that says you can scramble it just like eggs. VeganEgg. Ever try it?
Am I crazy , or was the everything socco liquidy and not in batter form? Perhaps a half cup of water instead of one and a half? I broiled, flipped, broiled and baked and still didn’t come out with a crisp product! The parts that were done were delicious, though!
Hi Mary- if it is a thick batter then it is so hard to spread in the hot pan and won’t reach the sides. mine was cooked through in the time and is just crispy around the edges and softer in the center- it won’t be crispy and stand up like a piece of pizza. You an certainly experiment with less liquid and see if you like that better.
Just made this over the weekend as a pre-dinner snack. It was fantastuc! Since we have a vegan in the house, we stuck to just the avocado and tomato. I am so happy to have found this recipe and can’t wait to make it again and again!
