The Ultimate Thanksgiving Centerpiece!
I am so excited to get to share something extra special with you today!!!! I get more requests for entertaining spreads around here than I can keep up with, and am thrilled to be able to deliver today! I feel so lucky to have teamed up with the amazing MacKenzie Childs to be able to share The Ultimate Thanksgiving Centerpiece with you!
I know, I know. It’s October and I’m already talking Holidays! But seriously, this is so worth sharing early because building the most gorgeous Thanksgiving table of all time is definitely going to be something you will want to start thinking about a month ahead of time, and I wanted to make sure you could get your décor elements in plenty of time.
MacKenzie Childs creates the most whimsical, fun and inspiring pieces that are right up my alley. I am all about mixing and matching and using lots of colors and patterns (wait till you see the video I have for you next week, where I show you how I set the table!!!) and I have to say that the selection of their Holiday pieces really put my imagination into overdrive when I thought about what I wanted to do for the ULTIMATE (emphasis on ultimate) centerpiece. I wanted it to not only be special, but just completely over-the-top and crazy and like you don’t know where to look next! My main muse was their Pheasant Run line which is perfect for the Holidays and filled with the most gorgeous colors and lots of them. I loved that I had such freedom of choice for coming up with the color combinations that were going to work with pieces I already had and my dining room to create the most beautiful entertaining combos.
Again, I know, I know- it’s a big centerpiece. Like really big! But I am hoping that you will use elements and tricks that I have used here to inspire your own ultimate centerpiece for the Holidays. Some of my favorite touches are the Autumn Lantern Sprays and Copper Butterfly Clips that I added to the flower arrangement, and also the Courtly Check Pumpkins that tie into the checks on the lantern and butterflies and will match elements of the table setting (just hang on until next week!) Of course, lots of candles and fruit and nuts and wonderful edible details like chocolate don’t hurt at all!
The bottom line is that creating a special table should be your own version of the
“Ultimate!” and most of all it should be fun and reflective of you and your holiday vision. Mine just happened to be mostly pink, purple and green but you do you! Please let me know if you have any questions and of course let me know what you are thinking for your Holiday tables this year!
***Creating something like this Ultimate Thanksgiving Centerpiece is kind of a magical/high-maintenance type of thing, and MacKenzie Childs made it all posssible! So huge thanks to them and I hope you enjoy the video!

You must be seating very tall people for this centerpiece. It appears to be so large on the table you are displaying it on that there is no room for food and people on opposite sides of the table cannot see nor converse with each other. I can see this on a buffet table set up a level because it is stunningly beautiful. But as a practical matter, unless you are serving buffet style it would be out of place and in the way for the usual family get together.
Hi Peter, it was meant to be a fantastical inspiration piece. You are welcome to reimagine it for your own gatherings in any way that suites you best.
I have a very small apartment and a very small budget, and yet I am really happy to see your video and inspirations because there are a lot of things I would not have thought of – for instance, starting with the pattern on my dishes for colors and patterns. The combination of natural elements (fruits I can find inexpensively at various places in town) and fun things (some of which can even come from a Dollar Store, some of which I have even in my Christmas box) is really great. The whole idea of BUILDING the decorations up and out is something I would not have known how to do. So thank you! This is creativity and imagination, and the height, placement, colors, and elements are all up to us. It’s a fantastic starting place, and you obviously had fun doing it!
Thank you so much Terry! Christmas decorations are an awesome way to decorate the table- I love the really inexpensive strings of beads in gold or silver piled in bowls and I always love to use fruit (like mini tangerines) piled in bowls- they are a fraction of the cost of cut flowers and you can eat them afterwards!
So much color and awesome vibes going on here!
