Happy Thirsty Thursday! I made these beautiful, cheerful and delicious cocktails as a celebration for my little brother Jonny and his fiancé Chisty! They just got engaged this past weekend and I am so excited for him! I love to see him so happy, and I couldn’t imagine a better match for him than Christy- one of the sweetest women I have ever met.
We are all so happy, that I couldn’t help but create a drink to toast them with- and since nectarines are already filling the grocery stores (I found the most gorgeous nectarines at Costco this week) they get to star. This is a perfect sipping drink for the sunny Holiday weekend ahead- your friends will love you!
We welcome Christy and her two children to our big crazy family- we can’t wait for you to make it official! CHEERS!!
- 1 cup fresh nectarines, peeled
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup vodka
- nectarine slices and edible flowers for garnish
- ice cubes
- In a small saucepan, combine the sugar, water and nectarines and bring to a simmer until the sugar is dissolved.
- Throw into the jar of a blender and puree until smooth. Strain through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher.
- Add the lemon juice, water and the vodka to the nectarine simple syrup.
- Fill the glasses completely with ice cubes and add some nectarine slices. Pour the cocktails over the ice and serve immediately.
