I love the idea of recreating a cocktail in a snowcone for the grownups, and the mixed berry has been the hands down first choice for the kids.

The cool part is that you can make the syrup and it lasts weeks in the fridge- then it just takes a few seconds to fire up your shaved ice! Enjoy!

Homemade Snow Cones! (Moscow Mule and mixed Berry)

Ingredients
  • Moscow Mule Snow Cones:
  • ½ cup water
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2” knob of fresh ginger, peeled and cut into a few chunks
  • Sprig of fresh mint
  • ¼ cup fresh lime juice
  • vodka
  • fresh mint for garnish
  • Mixed Berry Snow Cones:
  • ½ cup water
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 cup mixed berries (fresh or frozen)
  • ¼ cup fresh lime juice
  • Optional: vodka
  • Fresh berries and mint for garnish
Instructions
  1. For the Moscow Mule Snow Cones: Bring the sugar, water and ginger to a simmer in a small saucepan over medium heat. Simmer for about 5 minutes until all of the sugar has dissolved. Pour into a mason jar or heatproof glass and add the mint. Refrigerate until cold.
  2. Strain the ginger chunks and mint out of the syrup and add the lime juice (it works best to pour the mixture into a squeezie bottle.)
  3. Take a large scoop of shaved ice and add ½ ounce of vodka and then a generous squeeze of the ginger syrup and serve immediately!
  4. For the Mixed Berry Snow Cones: Bring the sugar, water and berries to a simmer in a small saucepan over medium heat. Simmer for about 5 minutes until all of the sugar has dissolved. Pour into a mason jar or heatproof glass. Refrigerate until cold.
  5. Strain the berry chunks out of the syrup and add the lime juice (it works best to pour the mixture into a squeezie bottle.)
  6. Take a large scoop of shaved ice and (OPTIONAL! add ½ ounce of vodka) then a generous squeeze of the berry syrup and serve immediately!
