A Seattle Spring Garden
Is there anything better than that feeling of seeing your house as you pull up to the curb after a trip? For me there is not. I can be gone just a few short days, and I can’t believe how homesick I get. It doesn’t matter that the second I return, everything goes back to mommy duties, because that moment when you scoop your kids into your arms and kiss their little squishy faces makes everything worth it.
Then comes the weirdo admission. After I am done hugging and squeezing my family and getting trampled with licks by Henry (my dog everyone)- I love to go out to my garden and inspect. When you have been gone for a few days or weeks, everything changes.
Because we have had such a difficult year here in Seattle, (like I can count the number of sunny days on one hand since last Spetember) the yard has kind of been in a state of paralysis. We are in late May and there are buds and flowers just sprouting that really should have been here months ago. It is a strange phenomena.
Apparently there was some sun while I was gone, (but don’t worry- it was sure to be replaced with drizzle by the time I returned!!) I guess that little bit of warmth got the flowers to open their little faces up in hopes of more. I hope that nature doesn’t disappoint them!
Even if you have no interest in gardening, maybe you will at least appreciate what a budding Spring garden looks like in the Pacific Northwest…

These will be ripe and juicy figs with a green skin and red inside in a few months

thanks Vicki! unstructured is right!! I just plant and plant every little nook and cranny of the garden and hope for the best! I wish I had tons of space for a vegetable garden, but alas it is a very “urban” garden. No big yards in my neighborhood…
Really beautiful. It has been such a peculiar winter. A week ago we had the worst winter storm, hail, snow, cold cold rain. And then boom! eighty degree weather.

Your garden photos are beautiful and I can completely relate to running out to inspect mine right after I hugged my family and pets when I got home from BlogHer Food. I am sorry I did not meet you, but I think I saw you a few times across the room (you are stunning!). Your girls and Henry are super adorable. What kind of dog is Henry?

Henry, (my first baby) is a St Bernard. He is in bikini shape for summer and still weighs in at 150, but back when I was catering he was a solid 180!lol! Big boy huh?
