Ok- nobody be mad. But I might have to start sprinkling some slightly less healthy recipes in.
I have been detoxing hard core. My jeans sort of fit again. But let me tell you- I’m just not built for dieting, and I am HUNGRY.
And now I want some grub. Like I am dreaming about things like nacho’s and brownies. And sandwiches.
Anyone else? no?
So here are some cookies that are riding the line between healthy and a little less healthy.
Mmmmm! But they are worth it!
Cozy and sweet and yummy. These are quintessential old fashioned Oatmeal Raisin Cookies.
Perfect on a rainy afternoon. Or for breakfast. (because it’s oatmeal, right?)
Oatmeal Raisin Cookies, makes 2 dozen cookies
-1 cup butter
-1 ½ cups white sugar
-2 eggs
-1 tsp maple extract
-1 ½ cups AP flour
-1 tsp cinnamon
-1 tsp baking soda
-½ tsp salt
-3 cups oats
-1 cup raisins
1) Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and prepare the sheet pans with silpats and parchment.
2) In the bowl of a mixer, cream together the butter and the sugar until fluffy.
3) Add the eggs and the maple extract and beat until fluffy.
4) In a separate bowl combine the dry ingredients.
5) Add the dry ingredients to the mixer and combine partially.
6) Then add the oats and the raisins to the mixer.
7) Combine until you have a thick batter.
8) Scoop the batter onto the cookie sheets (they spread).
9) Bake the cookies at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
10) Place the cookies on a rack to cool. Enjoy!

HA! I laughed out loud at this post … it was only a matter of time! 🙂 I’m making your healthy carrot curry soup for dinner and I can’t wait to try it. I’m hoping the curry powder will burn away this throat virus I have!
lol! I know. I haven’t officially gone off the wagon yet- but I think it’s coming. I should make a spicy soup for all the sick people- EVERYONE in Seattle has that throat thing.
PLEASE make a spicy soup for alll the Seattle sickies! That would be awesome. My throat thanks you in advance.
These look so good!
Love this classic recipe! Also, we’re sick here in Ottawa too, so YES on the soup!
ok- spicy soup it is….
These are just stunning – I’ve been a good girl – but I have to…doctors orders. However, I’m a FIRM believer in nothing being off limits. Just smart snacking (of course, it’s what I struggle with the most, but I believe it!)
AHHH its hard sometimes huh!? good way of looking at things Ann 🙂
These are beautiful cookies! All the stuff you’re craving is allowable on Weight Watchers. I lost a ton of weight with them. A lot of people use the online but the meetings are fun, believe it or not!.
you know what? I lost all 60 pounds (yes- 60)I gained in my first pregnancy with weight watchers- my sister did the same thing. It is a GREAT program.
My favorite cookie! well, one of them:)
Hey, we’re sick in NY, too! That’s why these cookies look so yummy – who doesn’t want comfort food when they’re sick?
Heather, would you say these are chewy (soft) or crispy cookies? They look chewy from the pictures and I loooove chewy and cakey cookies – like your Lofthouse sugar cookies.
They are chewy cookies!
These look delicious! I’ve been thinking about a detox (especially since I made “ate” a huge batch of your browned butter chocolate chip cookies last night). I’ve tried and starved through the lemonade detox…do you suggest a better one?? Thanks!!!
To be totally honest I just did a 3 day juice cleanse. It was hell, but I am 9 lbs lighter for the trouble. If people wanted me to, I would post my recipes- but you have to have a juicer. Do you think that is interesting to people?
I am with you on craving something sweet! These are perfect for satisfying this craving!
Yes, PLEASE post! I can take (I say that now) 3 days a lot better than 21 on the Lemonade Cleanse. I still have some lingering baby weight that’s being rather stubborn. I have a wonderful juicer that I do not use as much as I’d like. Thanks!!
Sometimes a girl just needs an old fashioned oatmeal cookie to dunk in cooold milk!
Love that extra hit of maple flavors in these cookies!
Heather, I was just looking at this recipe on the TK site, and noticed that it doesn’t call for the AP flour. Just thought I would let you know.
thanks for the heads up Shari!!
This is awesome! I love the site!!
