What are you guys doing for Valentines Day? It is funny how it becomes a lot about the kids when you are a parent. I am starting tomorrow off for them with these Berrylicious Smoothies and maybe some pancakes. Then I am heading to Pia’s class for her Kindergarten Valentines Day Party (how cute is that!?)

Champagne and Blood Orange Sorbet Sparkler

For dinner for the kids I will make these pizzas but with Gluten Free pizza crust for Pia and these brownie mug cakes with fresh raspberries for dessert. And then, by miracle or miracles, (and after all my whining) we got a babysitter. Now it’s not that I am just dying to go out on Valentines Day per se, but any parent knows- if you can get a babysitter- then TAKE the babysitter. I don’t care if we go grocery shopping together as long as we are ALONE and when I get home, the kids are asleep- you know what I mean? But I think Pete actually planned something, and he hasn’t told me what it is- pretty Romantic! (or he doesn’t know what we are doing and he is scrambling- which would also ensure secrecy!)

But for anyone staying in, or maybe after we go out and the kids are asleep, then this is what I want. A Blood Orange Sorbet Champagne Sparkler, the best little Valentines Day Cocktail ever! Or is it a dessert? I guess it’s the best of both.

Champagne and Blood Orange Sorbet Sparkler

I ripped off this gorgeous drink I made last year at this time and made it all blood orangey. I get obsessed with blood oranges during this short little time that we have them.

Champagne and Blood Orange Sorbet Sparkler

For the blood orange sorbet, you could make it (I have a recipe in my book) or you can buy it- they have some great brands that make this flavor. The best part about it- is it has a distinct tartness with a hint of bitter- what it is not is overly sweet. So you can still taste the champagne. I also added some fresh squeezed blood orange, because well it’s kind of pink and really pretty.

Ok, have fun today- it’s a sweet and hokey little “holiday” and it is meant to make you smile! Tune in tomorrow for Saturday Stuff and Sunday for another delicious Allergy Free Recipe!

This is how you make these Blood Orange Sorbet Champagne Sparklers:

Cut 2 rounds off of one of the blood oranges, and then cut each of those in half for the garnishes. Set aside. Squeeze the juice of the rest of the blood oranges between 4 glasses.

Add scoops of the blood orange sorbet.

Fill the glasses with champagne. (and I just continue to top off the glasses until, well, the bottle is finished ☺)
