Fresh Figs and Burrata
When you take two of my favorite things, fresh late summer figs, and creamy Burrata cheese, and combine them, you get pure heaven. The stores and markets are loaded with fresh figs, and the best way to enjoy them is raw. However, the presentation can really take them to a whole new level.
For this platter, I used 5 different types of figs, (four from the grocery store, and one from my yard). This also became a great way for me to get to sample all of the varieties this year!
I sliced them thinly and piled them on a platter according to type of fig.
In the middle I piled a fresh ball of Burrata cheese.
I then drizzled the figs with honey and balsamic. Show stopper!
As an alternative, this would also be lovely served with a side of thinly cut prosciutto or speck.

Do you buy your burrata, or make it?
I buy it from a local Italian specialty store. But that may be on my list of things to try this year!
Late discovery here… Do you know what type of figs the darker green ones are? We have them locally (very Northern California), but I’m having a heck of a time finding out what they are!
