It’s #ThirstyThursday, Thank God. That means that the week is pretty close to the end, and that would mean that I am only three weeks from getting my boot off (hurrah!!) and that I am only a few days away from my kids finally going back to school (hurrah!!) and that I am going to be back in my house before I know it (you get the point.)
Also, for any fellow Seattleites, this is also the first Seahawks game of the season. Uh, it’s kind of a big deal around here.
So I made Green Bloody Marys. Green in honor of the Seahawks, and bloody marys, because, well, some of us have an awful lot of tomatoes lying around.
For me, if you are going to bother making a bloody mary, it should be spicy. (If you don’t share your sentiments than definitely wait before you add the horseradish and maybe start with half of the jalaleno). I also kind of loved the texture of all of the pureed veggies- it just reminded me of pulp in fruit juice. But if you are going to freak out like there are lawn clippings in your drink- than you should strain the green juice after it comes out of the blender (but realize that you are getting rid of how to justify this cocktail as healthy!!)
And why wouldn’t you garnish this with fresh lemon, juicy cherry tomatoes, crunchy fresh lettuce and especially, a crispy, salty perfect strip of bacon? BLT in a drink. Go Hawks.

This is freakin’ genius, Heather! This recipe totally needs to go viral.
Ooh, yes please! What a great way to drink up lots of veg! I am going to keep this in the back of my mind for when the tomatoes start refusing to ripen. 🙂
GREEN bloody marys?! Now I’ve seen everything, what a brilliant idea!
This sounds sooo good. And gorgeous pics!
These look fabulous, Heather! Wish I could put work on hold and enjoy one right now. 🙂
ME TOO 🙂
OMG – these look insane! Such a great idea 😀
Thank you Megan!
Green tomatoes….as in tomatillos? Or all of those tomatoes in my garden that haven’t turned red yet? This looks yummmmmy.
Rachael- Green Tomatoes!
Do you skin the tomatoes first? And is that 4 cups chopped tomatoes, or just like 4 cup-sized tomatoes?
I didn’t skin the tomatoes and 4 cups chopped!
I’m almost tempted to add some fresh spinach to the juice. No matter what, this is truly inspired and deserves its own name! This transcends a ho-hum bloody mary.
I thought green tomatoes where only good cooked… Hmmmm.sounds good..thought they were only good raw if red an only good green if cooked..
