My darling husband has a January Birthday that it feels as though it is easily swept under the table being so close to the end of the Holidays. So this past year, I decided to throw him a surprise party. Not a huge one, more like he came home from work, and saw the table set and an elaborate meal simmering on the stove, and said “What’s going on? Who is that for?” …. Who did he think it was for!!?

And just as he came down from changing his clothes, all of our good friends came through the door for a wonderful dinner party! Just an idea for a surprise that isn’t top notch on the stress scale!

I have included some pictures of the tablescape which is a play on the icy outdoors at this time of year. Everything was silver and grey and white. I tried to keep in mind that this was a table for a gentleman’s birthday, so attempting to keep it on the masculine side was important to me. The water glasses were ombre silver and the champagne glasses were covered in silver stars. I also used assorted mercury pieces and cut glass bowls.

The “flowers” were my favorite part of the table- they were a huge bouquet of baby’s breath spry painted with silver and sparkle pray paint. They dried looking just the same, and I was able to use them for the rest of the month in that same condition.
