Red Roses Sweetened Up

IMG_2475

We have dinner with our friends Scott and Danielle and their two little girls all the time. My daughter Pia is absolutely wild about Danielle. So when we were at the store the afternoon we went over for dinner, I let her pick out some flowers for Danielle. Of course, she picked the red roses.

She could not have been more pleased, but she was also excited when I told her we would add some flowers from our (overgrown!!) garden.

This is just an idea for sweetening up some red roses with flowers that are pretty commonly grown in summer perennial gardens. Or at least this may inspire you to add you own herbs and garden flowers to grocery store roses.
