1. EASTER:

What are your plans? This is one of those unusual years when Easter and Greek Easter fall on the same date. In years past when they are both on the same day we have run around to 3 and 4 events trying to make it everywhere. It is like squeezing two full Holidays and all of their traditions into one day. Not easy.  But this year I just need a little more quiet. I will miss our regular traditions, but we are trading them in for just family. Sometimes you gotta do stuff like that, right?

2. DINNER PARTY:

So even though coming into Friday I felt so ILL PREPARED, but I channeled that inner caterer and it was actually great. Relaxed and enjoyable even. So I donate 3-4 dinners a year to different charities and you never know who will show up- which can actually be really fun if you love to meet new people. So this time the nicest woman bought it and brought all of her grown children and their significant others- they were so cute. And fun, and easy (which I always appreciate!). Here are some of the flowers here and here and the table… Pete Poured booze and I cooked. This was the menu (keep in mind it was Good Friday, so I didn’t cook any meat.)

Vodka Rhubarb Mint Lemonade Cocktails

Kushi Oysters with Cucumber Chili Mignionette (from my book)

Chickpea Fritters with Feta Dip and Pickled Red Onion

Crostini with Goat Cheese, Tapenade and Roasted Peppers (from my book)

Crispy Fried Shrimp with Spicy Honey Butter

Fresh Pea Soup with Butter Poached Lobster

(instagram)

Kale Salad with Lemon, Almond And Pecorino

Beet Pesto Pasta with Pastachios (from my book)

Crispy Seared Halibut with Spring Vegetables

(Peas, asparagus, fiddle head ferns and shitake mushrooms)

Vanilla Pavlova with Raspberry Sorbet, Vanilla Whipped Cream and Berries

Peanut Butter and Jelly Doughnuts

3. SHOWER:

My kids shower is leaking into the kitchen ceiling. Our kitchen is leaking into the Living Room and there is a puddle. Can you believe that? The plumber can’t come out till next week. Dang Eclipses. Do you know there is another one on this coming Monday?

4. COCO:

So, I’m trying not to freak out, but Coco has started showing a lot of the same Food Allergy symptoms that Pia used to. She is now in the middle of testing. Cross your fingers for me. I am trying to brace myself for the fact that Pia is not a fluke. If Coco shows up with it, well, I guess I will just cross that bridge when I get to it…

5. MOOSE MUNCH:

Have you ever had “Moose Munch” from Harry and David. OMG. It is so addictive. I soent a few days with them down in Medford Oregon last week, and can’t wait to tell you about it VERY soon- but this Moose Munch was the best thing ever. In fact I bought a bunch and shipped it back and now I have been plowing through it. I have to make something with it- if I can reserve any.

Wait- did you just read that? Did you read that post last Saturday where I was pretty much pleading with myself to go on a cleanse? Can you see why? Among other things, I have been on a Moose Munch Binge. I know you probably won’t believe me, but I really am going on my cleanse on Monday. A week late, but I am ready. I think I have reached maximum capacity and I’m truly ready.

6. So this is hands down the most beautiful Edible thing I have seen in forever. I can’t stop thinking about it and I am actually kind of obsessed.

7. These Spicy Shrimp and Goat Cheese Grits are Killing Me. They just look so freaking good.

8.  These Blackberry Sour Cream Bran Muffins give Bran Muffins a good name. Actually, they give all muffins a good name.

9. Oh Wow. This Cake is beautiful.

10.  This Salad is just too so pretty.
