Do you guys remember how much I love shishito peppers? L-O-V-E them. Truly.
So, now that they are back on the shelves at Trader Joes, I had to scoop up a few bags and make something tasty for you!
Lucky for me, I am getting to team up with WOLF Gourmet again! And this is probably the most excited I have been YET! And listen guys, you know I very rarely work with brands, so when I do, I am really and truly sharing something with you that I love and believe in. So to go with my obsession with shishito peppers today, I also share with you something else I L-O-V-E and am obsessed with.
Today we are talking pots and pans. Well, that feels like a huge understatement- Wolf Gourmet has launched the most incredible set of cookware, and these are not just your average pots and pans. This cookware is over-the-top amazing. I have been cooking with it for the last month and it has replaced most of my go to pots and pans.
They cook so evenly and then three of my favorite features are:
1) The handles do not get hot when the pots and pans do!
2) There is a curved lip to them so that when you pour sauces or anything else from them, they don’t drip down the sides of the pots and pans! (SO SMART)
3) There is a curve at the bottom of the pot that perfectly fits the way a spoon would scrape along the bottom. If there was a 90 degree angle then the spoon does not easily scrape up the extra sauce. (IT’S GENIUS)
Because WOLF Gourmet also wants to make sure that you get a chance to try this amazing cookware out, I get to select one of my favorite pieces from their 10-piece collection and offer it up to one of you!
I chose the 3.5 quart saucepan with lid. I use it all the time. I cook chicken in it, I make sauces (especially tomato sauce) and cook shellfish. I also sauté vegetables that will need a little liquid to help them along like broccoli and like these shishito peppers!
If you would like to sign up to win one of these beautiful saucepans ($329.00 value) leave a comment below letting me know what your favorite pasta sauce is. Please use a valid email address that you check regularly (like every day). I will announce the winner on Friday morning April 8th at 9am PT. You must be 18 years or older and reside in the 50 United States. We are unable to ship to P.O. Boxes. I will email the winner and if they don’t respond within 48 hours then I will select a new winner. Good Luck!!
Deborah is our winner!!!

Such a gorgeous pan and a great giveaway. I’d make a classic slow cooked tomato sauce in this pan. |
**While WOLF Gourmet supplied me with products to review and product to give away, all opinions expressed here are completely my own.
- 2 teaspoons peeled, minced ginger
- 2 garlic cloves
- 2 teaspoons harrisa
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 12 ounces shishito peppers
- ⅓ cup mirin
- 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
- In the jar of a blender, add the ginger, garlic, harrisa, maple syrup, rice vinegar and sesame oil. Puree until smooth and season to taste with kosher salt.
- In a large saucepan over high heat, add the oil. When the oil is shimmering hot, add the peppers. Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring often and then add the mirin. It will bubble and steam, and then put the lid on the pan. Let the peppers steam for another 2 minutes.
- Remove the lid and add the sauce, stirring well until the peppers are soft, about another 2 minutes.
- Transfer the tender shishito peppers to a serving dish and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds.

I like my moms! she takes canned whole tomatoes, squishes them, cooks them down with tons of roasted garlic and carmelized onions, chops up some olives and mushrooms to cook in the last few minutes, and seasons simply
I am not big on pasta sauce because if you go out, they smother the pasta. So often I ask for something on the side and do it myself. If I can, I try to get something along the lines of pumpkin or squash based. If I can’t, I ask for a little butter and garlic. At home I can do what I want! Once I pureed some cannellini beans with garlic and olive oil and just used that. I have to be careful with spiciness because hub doesn’t like any spice~
I like tomato basil sauce.
My “last -meal-before-i-leave-this-earth” pasta sauce is very simple; in my family we call it Granny Spaghetti. It’s comprised of a couple of tablespoons of unsalted butter, a couple of tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, a can of San Marzano tomatoes, crushed by hand or smooched in the pot with a wooden spoon, a couple of generous pinches of kosher salt and a few hearty grinds of black pepper. To the pot, add most of a pound of al dente cooked thin spaghetti and a couple of splashes of pasta cooking water. It is silky, velvety, tomato-y heaven. It’s deceptively simple, but it packs a wallop of flavor and texture. I don’t care for cheese on mine because I love the purity of the tomato taste, but my family does like a little Reggiano on theirs! And sometime a few chiffonaded fresh basil leaves tossed in at the last minute!
A fresh homemade presto at the height of basil season in my garden…
I love vodka sauce.
This looks amazing can’t wait to try it. My favorite sauce is alfredo sauce, yummy!
My favorite pasta sauce is my Grandmothers homemade sauce.
I love a fresh tomato sauce with lots of garlic. Oh and don’t forget some freshly grated parmesan cheese at the very end. Absolutely wonderful.
The peppers sound fabulous. My favorite pasta sauce is vodka tomato sauce.
I love a good ol’ Alfredo sauce!
I love anything coconut curried…! The pans look gorgeous by the way.
Recipe looks great! My favorite sauce lately is a mix of coconut aminos, toasted sesame oil, ginger, garlic, cholula and almond butter.
My mom’s side of the family is Sicilian-American. I don’t come from a long line of good cooks, but we all do know how to make a good marinara sauce. I know it’s nothing fancy, but I could eat it every day, and making it is so relaxing and fulfilling to me. I love your website, and your book, Heather! Thank you for all the delicious recipes!
I would have to say tomato vodka sauce. I have tried to make it at home and it never turns out as well…. Thanks for a chance to win – I love the pictures and recipes on your blog!
I love to make spaghetti sauce with fresh tomatoes and onions. The flavor!!!
I like a nice tomatoe basil sauce. So simple so yummy.
My favorite pasta sauce is made from roasted tomato paste, onions, garlic, beef broth, a bit of sugar, and heavy cream. Also, herbs de provence, fresh ground black pepper and fresh basil. It doesn’t have a name, we call it ‘that red creamy sauce’. 🙂
My favorite sauce is marinara with some basil pesto. Love this recipe too! Thanks Heather.
I love a light and healthy pesto sauce with my pasta!
This recipe looks fantastic. I hope that my local Trader Joes has the peppers. My favorite sauce is a nice thick marinara.
Pesto or just plain old red sauce are my faves, but I love pasta any which way!

I love simple olive oil, garlic, salt, pepper… Or pesto and pine nuts… But nothing beats fresh tomato sauce!!
My favorite sauce is a mix of chipotle peppers
, maple syrup and apple cider vinegar. Yummy:)
My favorite is a sausage cream sauce made with spicy Italian sausage (chicken is fine) and a can of fire roasted tomatoes. It’s super easy to make in big batches for special events. It’s also my favorite meal to take to families with a new baby (though in such cases I usually mix spicy with sweet Italian sausage, or just stick to sweet). I usually serve it over Jovial rice penne pasta.
Shishito are my favorite peppers as well!!!
Favorite pasta sauce…O man…Probably my curry cheeze sauce!
It’s a tie! I love mediterranean marinara sauce and my clam linguini sauce equally, I can’t choose just one. 🙂
Hi Heather, I spent quite a few years on the Gulf Coast of Alabama, traveling to places in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Florida and sampling their delicious seafood along the way. My favorite sauce to make is a spicy, tomato-based sauce with lots of garlic and crawfish that I was inspired to create by the delicious foods I enjoyed down South! Thanks for your great website and blog – I truly enjoy it as a newly signed up friend! ~Sarah
My favorite pasta sauce is a creamy basil sauce. I substitute Greek yogurt for cream/butter. Light and delish! Especially when the basil is fresh from my garden.
I love spicy arabbiata and would most definitely make some if I win a new saucepan 🙂
My favorite sauce is good ol’ homemade meat sauce, but Erin’s sauce above sounds pretty delish, too! I might have to try that one.
I freeze the peppers for use later also also hatch chili’s.
My favorite pesto is a shiso pesto with fresh shiso from my garden.
I add Parmesan some time nuts ground or not. Can add garlic
Or make it sweeter for chicken or tofu.
It’s a tad minty and but really good with pasta or a lite marinade.
Puttanesca!
I love pasta with shrimp creole sauce!
I am a sucker for a fresh, homemade pesto sauce. Nothing better than the smell of fresh basil!
*fingers crossed!* 🙂

Marinara sauce
I love pasta sauces with fire roasted tomatoes. It imparts such an amazing flavor!
i have a bolognese recipe developed by our local wegmans that is killer:)
Yay! I also love shishito peppers, I got hooked on them because of you! Good to know they are back in stock at TJ’s. I’m making this recipe ASAP!!
I make a lot of pasta for my family (currently 3 starving guys) and I love to make a different, creative twist on sauce every time, depending on what’s in my refrigerator. So, usually a combination of chicken sausage, spinach or kale, roasted red peppers, fresh tomatoes, tomato paste, onions, garlic, carrots, zucchini, fresh herbs, scoop of sour cream or splash of milk. Sometimes I just simmer it for an hour, sometimes I blend it up. Sprinkle it with whatever grated or shaved cheese I have on hand.
Although, last week I just literally drizzled a little olive oil over pasta, grated a fresh tomato over a box grater directly onto the pasta, sprinkled on sea salt & pepper, topped with shaved parmesan and red pepper flakes and it was AMAZING!
I’m torn between Bolognese and Alfredo. It really depends on what protein I choose or my mood. I love this piece of cookware – it’s beautiful!
I make one with cream cheese, tuscan seasoning and garlic. Love it.
Pesto, all day every day!
My favorite pasta sauce is my son’s Alfredo sauce. I fancy myself a pretty good cook but his sauce is amazing and I love that he shares my passion for cooking.
I’ve been wanting to get one of their pans for awhile now. I have a mixed collection of all the major higher end pans, but no WOLF!
These peppers look amazing, pinning for later!
My favorite sauces are ones with cheese or cream in them – pesto and vodka cream sauce. After being diagnosed allergic to dairy though, I have had to find new recipes to love. Your recipes are helping a lot!
Hi Heather,
Thank you for your inspiring recipes! There’s so much to choose from. I especially love your creative banter and fresh, healthy ideas. My favorite pasta sauce is Alfredo, although I don’t eat it often. It’s usually a treat, like hollandaise or after a long run. Cheers, SL
I like to make a pesto with kale and basil and whatever nuts I have. I play around with different nuts and seeds in my pesto.
My favorite sauce is roasted garlic and tomato. Thank you so much for the giveaway!
my favorite pasta sauce is a meaty bolognese!!
My favorite pasta sauce is a roasted tomato, garlic and olive oil! Those pots look awesome, would love to have it!
I don’t know if it entirely counts as a sauce, but I really want to master cacio e pepe!
By far my favorite pasta sauce is fresh tomatoes with fresh basil, olive oil and red pepper flakes.
I love the sauce recipe my mother-in-law gave me-a thick meaty sauce.
This is so hard. There are so many that I love, Amatriciana, Vongole Rosso, Putenasca, Mariana. I think my Sunday sauce has to be my absolute favorite.
I love a good pesto sauce with basil, or even cilantro, and topped with freshly grated parmesan. Yum! (Now I am hungry…)
I like fresh tomato sauce
What a GORGEOUS recipe; I’ve become a huge fan of harissa so this is great in my search of more ways to use it :)! I am dreaming of all the things to cook up in that lovely pan as well. My favorite pasta sauce, as an Italian descendant, is Bolognese!
My favorite pasta sauce is very simple and I’ve been making it for 30 years (with and without meat). Onions, garlic, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, basic Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 20-30 minutes and you’ve got a great basic sauce. Mushrooms if they’re available, diced and sauteed with the onions and garlic add a nice touch, too.
Hi Heather!
On my way to Trader Joe’s in Dr Phillips area of Orlando with shishito peppers at the top of my list!
My favorite pasta sauce is pretty simple, sautéed yellow onion about 3 minutes then sautéed garlic about 2 minutes. Add large can of crushed tomatoes (I use Hunts), pinch of kosher salt, couple of grinds of black pepper, pinch of red pepper flakes, tsp of dried basil, MAYBE a sprinkle of brown sugar or agave nectar, but only if needed.
Simmer about 20 minutes. My husband is not a huge fan of red sauce so I always make an Alfredo sauce as well. Sometimes in a weak moment I will add a little to my plate on top of the red sauce but usually kick myself on those occasions because this red sauce a so good on its own.
Hoping to win the Wolf saucepan!!
Love your recipes!
I don’t know why I’ve never had Shishitos!! They look phenomenal!!
Definitely fresh tomatoes, freshly picked basil and a fantastic olive oil…or a spicy arabbiata
I think my personal favorite pasta sauce is caramelized onions and speck or pancetta finished off with a little fresh grated part- simple and so delicious!
My favorite pasta sauce would have to be a creamy, spicy pumpkin sauce comprised of browned butter, minced garlic, pumpkin purée, a splash of hot pasta water, nutmeg, red pepper flakes for a kick, black pepper and fresh basil. Plus grated Parmesan, can’t forget that! Those peppers sound delicious by the way!
I was going to say Alfredo…but changed my mind. Tiki masala sauce is soooo yummy. I should try it over pasta instead of my naan bread which I haven’t yet mastered.
I’m crushing on these peppers!
I like caramelized onions and garlic with fresh tomatoes lightly sauteed with them, a squeeze of lemon juice, feta, and fresh basil. Yum!!!
I like a good old, hearty marinara sauce. Classic! 🙂
Another inspiring recipe I can’t wait to try- so I am off the Trader Joe’s in the HOPES that our local one has shishito peppers, as they are one of my favorites too! This will pair perfectly with the ahi I am making this evening, so fingers crossed I can find them… Now- about that INCREDIBLE WOLF gourmet pan… As a nutritionist & wellness coach deeply involved with autoimmune diseases, I have been AIP myself for a couple years- it helps me work more closely with my clients & patients in our HBOT clinic. So I cook up black bean pasta with my own chicken fajita sauce! Even my boys LOVE it- makes a great fill-in for taco Tuesday too! Definitely a favorite here in our house.
Lately I am in love with arrabbiata sauce! It’s a mixture of tomatoes, garlic, red chili, and olive oil. I have always bought the jarred sauce but would love to learn how to make it properly from scratch in the future.
I love Mara Hazens simple tomatoe/butter/onion sauce. So tasty
My favorite Pasta sauce is my quick marinara with butter. Yummy.
Arabiatta sauce – so flavorful and nice amount of spice
My favorite sauce with pasta is…the sauce/gravy when making Chicken Marsala.
While I’ve had the privilege of cooking in Tuscany and have learned to make fancy sauces, I find my very favorite is a simple pomdoro finished w/a splash of evoo and freshly grated Parmesan; it truly doesn’t get any better!
My husband loves mine with lots of onions, peppers, mushrooms, and with my canned tomatoes crushed up with lots of basil added too. I admit I like it myself too! 😉
Homemade tomato is my favorite sauce to pour over pasta. Nothing beats the flavor of a homegrown tomato. I like to keep it simple, a small amount of fresh herbs, garlic, onion and olive oil. In the winter months I use tomato sauce that we canned in the summer.
My favorite pasta sauce is a 4-ingredient marinara that my Mom taught me to make.
I’m a huge fan of pasta. I think my favorite sauce has to be vodka tomato sauce.
Pesto all the way
