Greetings from Los Angeles!

Pete and I are down her for work this weekend, but I have been getting in really fun dinners with dear friends, hanging out with my older brother Chris (Criminal Minds star!!) This morning Gaby and I went on an ELEVEN mile walk that left me uh, “tired“ to say the least. I am not sure I will be able to walk tomorrow at all! They might have to roll me onto the plane in a wheelchair.

This week was just not as interesting as I had planned! It passed in a flash. Pia has been beyond sick and is still in the process of getting better at home with my parents (thank God for amazing grandparents, right?) What started as a swimmers ear infection (thank you for the great preventative advice by the way) turned into the early stages of mastoiditis (which I had never heard of before). Thank goodness we caught it when we did, but even at the early stage, to say that she was in pain is just such an understatement. She had to be on painkillers and it took 5 days on heavy antibiotics to get the fever and infection to back off. Uhhh, just a little more intense than your average ear infection, complete with some hospital time. I waited until the fever broke and then my parents graciously let me go down to LA to sleep (nothing like 5 nights of interrupted sick kid sleep) and get my work in. But Pia updates me via bitmoji texts from her Ipad about every 3 minutes, so I am feeling like I am there anyway!

Ok, on a lighter note, I drank the most gorgeous agua frescas at breakfast this morning (they are on instastories!) at the hotel we are staying at- they had cantaloupe, pineapple and watermelon and I could not believe how pretty and delicious they were- I will make these for you soon you guys.

We are eating at the restaurant Sushi Park tonight and I am so excited. This is rumored to be the best sushi in LA and I am going to get down with the whole menu. After that 11 mile walk, I could probably eat everything they have. Everything. Also I am looking forward to my very favorite, Demon Slayer Sake!

I figure that I better enjoy every sip of booze and bite of carbs before I start Whole 30 on Monday! What on earth will I eat for my “last meal” tomorrow night? Suggestions?

Ok, so speaking of Whole30, this is really happening. Pete and I are doing it and I have several friends (and some of you!!) who are doing it too. Strength in numbers guys! I am going to put My Whole 30 Diet Diary on the front page of the blog and update it every day with recipe links, tips and discoveries! Please do the same if you are participating! We can all be in this together. One of the weird (and liberating!) things will be ditching the scale. I will weigh in Monday morning and take measurements and then chuck the scale for 30 days- but I promise I will let you know the results at the end. Also, for those of you who are not interested in this, it shouldn’t affect the blog too much. I still have a nice little pile of booze, sugar and carb-loving recipes lined up for your enjoyment!

Speaking of Booze and Sweets and Carbs.

I have to make sure that you saw this guilt cake that I made for Pia before I left for LA. It was just so good.

I am making these for our Oscar Viewing pleasure tomorrow night while the blood oranges are in season. They are selling them by the bag full at Trader Joes right now!

OK, hope you guys are doing great and I will see you here tomorrow, Sunday, for my Regular Post and also look for my Whole 30 diary going up! MWAH!
