I am like 100 years old physically. Let me explain. We have been traveling a lot lately, and that will continue for a while. But when you travel a lot and you are somewhat tall (I am pretty tall for a woman) you tend to sit kind of strangely on the airplane. Like I always find myself kind of pretzeled into those ridiculously small seats trying to squish my legs into some semblance of comfort. Then you sleep in a weird hotel bed and then you throw your back out- or something like that! I definitely have some kind of bad pulled muscle issue going on so that I grunt when I do things that require movement. Then, on top of that, I was at a work lunch on Monday in LA and my back molar crown FELL OUT. IN MY LUNCH. Nice, huh? I told you- 100 years old- at least. Toothless and hunched over- it’s a really hot look for me. And wait, let me cap it off (do you like my pun!?) with the fact that I had an aggressive dermatological procedure done on Thursday to combat said 100 years old self and now I am swollen and red and basically hideous for the next few days. Pete is just SO lucky !!!
I cut my hair like three inches this week and no one in my family noticed for 2 days. And even then I had to tell them. Is that crazy? I feel like 3 inches is a lot, Pete says it is not- ladies?? (It’s a lot)
The girls are obsessed with Origami right now and so I have kind of gotten obsessed too. I find it tremendously calming and kind of therapeutic. I like to do it in the late evening with a cup of tea while the tv is on or I am helping the girls do homework. Is that so weird? I am working in a little (big) origami project, I will share it with you when I am done.
I have to set my Easter brunch table today- I will definitely document it on Insta-stories. But in the mean time I did the buffet in the dining-room which has a huge rough cement planter. I filled it with baby daffodils and it is the cutest thing. I have to wait and see what other flowers there at the store tomorrow so I can do the table. Here is what I have decided I am making for Easter morning (also my mother-in-law will bring http://heatherchristo.com/2011/04/11/spanikopita/“>Spanikopita and some other Greek goodies!)
Strawberry Grapefruit Bourbon and Chamomile Brunch Punch
Strawberry Coconut Limeade (for the kids)
Grilled Salmon with Honey Lime Mango Sauce
Butter Lettuce Salad, pickled red onions, toasted walnuts with Mint Vinaigrette
Avocado Toast with Smoked Salmon and Radishes
and last but not least….
A Waffle Bar!!! I am making Coconut Waffles and doing a topping bar with whipped coconut cream, maple syrup, raspberry sauce and tons of fresh fruit.
The rest of the day will basically be an eating marathon. We have a lot of celebrating to do, and it is Greek Easter too. Sooooo, I’ll be wearing elastic pants on Monday. Follow along on Instagram to see ALL THE FOOD!!!
If you are looking for a giggle this weekend, Pia and Coco are on Facebook Live again this Saturday morning at 9am PT.
Here is what I made this week:
Cocktail and Mocktails for Easter!!!
Honey Mango Lime Shrimp and Salad
As always, your posts are hilarious and inspiring! Waffle Bar?! . From one Seattlite to another… where do u go for skin/face/body? I’m intrigued by the deem procedure. This 46-year-old needs to know!
Happy Easter!!
Hi Heather,
Yes! Three inches is a lot!!! I so relate to your 100 year old self. You are absolutely beautiful, just saying. I watched your video where you gave us a tour of your kitchen…I am so jeal! Would you please tell me what brand your electric teapot is? I like the glass carafe. Thanks so much!
You are so nice Shelley! The glass kettle is Kitchen Aid and it has been absolutely dreamy- I use it about 6 times a day!
