Welcome to another edition of Thirsty Thursday! This week we will be discovering the delights of the Cherry Lavender Beer Margarita.
Are you all tuckered out of summer margaritas? You’ve just had Strawberry Rhubarb and Blueberry Lime Margaritas after all And if you have a copy of my book you might have had a Guinness Margarita, a Frozen Pomegranate Margarita or my favorite, the Blackberry Jalapeno Margarita! But maybe you still have a little room for a punchy sweet and sour tequila cocktail?
Especially if it is filled with ripe juicy cherries, sour limes and just a touch of fragrant lavender. Some fizzy pale ale mellows it all out and lends an earthy sweetness that is quite nice.
Oh, and they also happen to be totally stunning! Wouldn’t you be happy to serve these at a party, or over the moon to quietly sip one of these from your porch swing on a hot summer’s night. I would. If only I had a porch swing….
To make these Cherry Lavender Beer Margaritas, this is what you do:
Sugar the rims of two tall glasses with a lime wedge and dip it into some sugar to coat it. Fill with ice cubes and set aside. In a large glass combine 2 ounces of tequila, ½ cup cherries and 1 teaspoon sugar and the lavender. Muddle these together into a pulp.
Add 2 tablespoons lime juice and 4 ounces of cold pale ale.
Strain the drink into the prepared sugar rimmed glasses. Garnish with a sprig of fresh lavender.
Repeat for the next drink. And serve cold.
